Send in a paper from any grade, from a first paragraph to a college essay. You get detailed written feedback on your thesis, organization, evidence, and clarity, with specific ideas for revising.
The lab is for coaching, not ghostwriting. Students stay the authors of their own work and learn to revise it themselves. Add a live session if you’d like to talk through the feedback.

Coming soon: on-demand tutoring
Stuck on homework the night before it’s due? We’re planning drop-in tutoring during certain evening and weekend hours. Your student will be able to hop on a live video session with a real tutor, without booking ahead.
Here’s how it will work: on-demand tutoring will be a monthly membership. Each week, we’ll email members the drop-in tutoring times for that week, so your student can join whenever they need help. Membership fees are not refundable, even for months when your student doesn’t use any drop-in times.
The exact hours and the monthly fee aren’t set yet. Tell us when your family would use it and we’ll plan around that. Joining the list doesn’t sign you up or charge you anything. We’ll email you when on-demand tutoring opens.

I’m Bethany, a New Jersey middle school teacher with over a decade of classroom and tutoring experience. I help students understand what they read, see how ideas connect, and write papers they’re proud of. I coach rather than give answers, so students build skills they keep.

What grades and subjects do you tutor?
Grades K–6 in English language arts, math, science, and social studies. Grades 7–12 in English language arts and social studies. The writing lab accepts papers from any grade through college.
How does the writing lab work?
The writing lab is coming soon and will be priced per page. Once it opens, you send your paper and a short note about the assignment. You receive written feedback within two business days. You can then book a live session to go over it.
How do I cancel or reschedule?
Contact us at least 24 hours before your session to reschedule or get a refund.
Is my child’s information private?
We collect only what we need to schedule sessions, and we never sell it.

Shipwreck to Shore Tutoring (“we,” “us”) collects only the information needed to schedule sessions, take payment, and teach your student. We do not sell personal information. Effective date: October 17, 2026.
Information we collect
- From parents and guardians: name, email address, and any details you share about your student’s needs.
- About students: first name, grade level, subjects, and school work shared in sessions, including papers submitted to the writing lab. We collect this from parents or guardians, not directly from children under 13.
- Payment details: payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store full card numbers. Stripe shares with us your name, email, and what you bought.
- Scheduling details: Calendly shares your name, email, and the time you booked.
- Interest list details: if you join the on-demand tutoring interest list, the answers you give on the form (see below).
- Website data: our website host may record basic technical data, such as browser type and pages visited.
Session recordings
We record tutoring sessions for security and quality purposes. A recording includes the video and audio of the session and anything shared on screen. Recordings are viewed only by us, stored with a trusted provider, and deleted after 30 days unless needed to resolve a safety or quality concern.
How we use it
- To schedule and teach sessions and to give feedback on writing.
- To process payments, send receipts, and answer questions.
- To keep records we need for taxes and accounting.
Who we share it with
We share information only with the services that help us run the business: Stripe (payments), Calendly (scheduling), Netlify (website hosting and interest list forms), a video meeting tool such as Zoom or Google Meet (sessions), and our email and file-storage provider. They may use the information only to provide their services. We may also share information if the law requires it or to protect a child’s safety.
Children’s privacy
Our services are bought and managed by parents and guardians. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information without a parent’s permission, contact us and we will delete it.
On-demand tutoring interest list
If you join the on-demand tutoring interest list, we collect your name, email address, whether you are a parent, guardian, or adult student, your student’s grade, and any times, subjects, or notes you choose to share. We do not ask for your student’s name. Your answers are stored by our website host, Netlify. We use them only to email you about on-demand tutoring and to plan its hours and subjects. We delete this information when you ask us to, or within 90 days after on-demand tutoring opens if you don’t sign up.
How long we keep information
We keep records while your student is enrolled and as long as the law requires. Papers submitted to the writing lab are deleted within 90 days after we return our feedback, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
Your choices
Parents and guardians can ask to see, correct, or delete the information we hold about their family. Email us and we will respond within 30 days. Some payment and tax records must be kept by law.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect information, such as using trusted services and limiting who can see student work. No online system is completely secure.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The effective date above shows the latest version. If we make a significant change, we will email current families.

These terms apply when you buy or use services from Shipwreck to Shore Tutoring (“we,” “us”). By booking or paying, you agree to them. Effective date: October 20, 2026.
Our services
- Tutoring sessions: live online one-on-one sessions in English language arts, math, science, and social studies for grades K–6, and in English language arts and social studies for grades 7–12.
- Writing lab: not yet available. When it opens, it will offer written feedback on a student’s papers, from any grade through college, priced per page.
- On-demand tutoring: not yet available. When it opens, it will be a monthly membership with drop-in help at the times we email members each week.
We provide instruction and feedback. We cannot promise a particular grade, test score, or admission result.
Who may book
Parents and guardians book services for students under 18. Students 18 and older may book for themselves. You confirm that you are authorized to book and pay.
Payments
Prices are shown on our website and at checkout, in US dollars. Payments are processed by Stripe. Multi-session packages, when offered, are paid in advance and must be used within 90 days of purchase. Sales tax is calculated and added at checkout through Stripe where required.
Scheduling, cancellations, and refunds
- Reschedule or cancel at least 24 hours before a session for a full refund or a free reschedule.
- Refunds will not be issued for cancellations made less than 24 hours before a scheduled session, or for sessions affected by technology issues on the client’s end (for example, an internet outage or device failure).
- Missed sessions will be counted as used and will not be refunded.
- If we cancel a session, we will reschedule it or refund it.
- Writing lab reviews can be refunded before we begin work. Once feedback has been delivered, the review is not refundable.
- On-demand tutoring memberships are not refundable, including months when your student doesn’t attend any drop-in times.
Academic integrity
Our tutoring and writing lab are for learning. We coach students and give feedback on their own work. We do not write assignments, complete tests, or produce work for a student to submit as their own. We may decline any request that would break a school’s academic integrity rules.
Writing lab submissions
Students keep ownership of the papers they submit. By submitting a paper, you allow us to read it and write feedback. We use papers only to provide the review, as described in our Privacy Policy.
Online conduct
Sessions should be respectful. We may end a session, without a refund for that session, if behavior is abusive or unsafe. Parents or guardians of students under 13 should be nearby or available during sessions. Sessions are recorded, as described below.
Session recordings
We record sessions for security and quality purposes. We will let you know at the start of each session that it is being recorded. Recordings are viewed only by us, stored securely, and deleted after 30 days unless needed to resolve a safety or quality concern. By booking, you agree to the recording of your sessions. If you are booking for a student under 18, you confirm that you are the parent or guardian and give permission for your student’s sessions to be recorded.
Limits of our responsibility
We provide our services as described, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted access or specific results. To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the service involved. Nothing here limits rights you have under the law that cannot be waived.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The effective date above shows the latest version. Changes apply to purchases made after the update.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
